Overview & Highlights

Delhi → Tirthan Valley → Chitkul → Kalpa → Kaza → Key Monastery → Hikkim → Langza → Chandratal Lake → Manali → Delhi
Challenging terrains. High passes. Exhilarating views. And one hell of a machine beneath you — this is what every biker lives for. If endless roads and untamed Himalayan landscapes sound like your kind of escape, a bike trip to Spiti Valley isn't just a good idea. It's long overdue. Spiti is a high-altitude cold desert that doesn't reveal itself to just anyone. Its beauty waits on the other side of some of the most demanding roads in the Himalayas — steep climbs, crumbling edges, river crossings that test your nerve, and 70 km of off-roading that will become the best riding story of your life. The adrenaline isn't a bonus here. It's the whole point. Often called the mini Ladakh, Spiti carries that same raw, wide-open energy — but quieter, more offbeat, and far less discovered. Your gateway from Manali takes you over the iconic Rohtang Pass through the Pir Panjal Range, and from that first high-altitude view, you'll know this trip is different. But Spiti gives you more than just the ride. Sit in the stillness of Key Monastery, one of the most sacred Buddhist sites in the valley, perched impossibly above the Spiti river. Walk the fossil-rich grounds of Langza, where ancient sea creatures are frozen in mountain rock. Ride up to Hikkim and send a postcard from the world's highest post office — to someone you love, or to yourself as a reminder that you actually did this. For a few days, leave the city behind completely. No deadlines, no traffic, no noise that doesn't belong. Just mountains, open roads, and the version of yourself that shows up when there's nothing else in the way. Our bikes are ready. The valley is waiting. Time to get Spitified.

Trip Highlights

✦Chandratal Lake – witness surreal color-changing waters and a sky full of stars in Spiti’s most iconic high-altitude setting.

Itinerary

  • The adventure begins as you meet our spirited trip captain and fellow explorers in Delhi. Meet at common meeting point to ensure a smooth and hassle-free onboarding.
  • Settle into the Bus, and let the rhythmic hum of the road lull you into a dreamy state as we drive away from the bustling city toward the serenity of the mountains. Sleep, dream, or chat with new friends—the journey is as much a part of the adventure as the destination.
  • By morning, you arrive in Manali and check into your hotel. Freshen up, relax, and take it slow — today is all about easing into the mountains.
  • Head out to explore Jogni Waterfall, stroll through Mall Road, or café-hop in Old Manali.
  • In the evening, we gather for a detailed briefing about the upcoming ride — routes, safety, and what lies ahead.
  • Rest well tonight — the real adventure begins tomorrow.
  • Dinner and Overnight Sleep in hotel in Manali.
  • Wake up early, fuel up with breakfast, and get ready — today you meet your ride.
  • After bike allocation and a quick test ride, we hit the road.
  • Ride through scenic Himalayan roads towards Tirthan Valley, passing pine forests, rivers, and charming villages.
  • Stop at Jibhi to visit the beautiful Chhoie Waterfall and explore cozy hidden cafés.
  • By evening, settle into your stay in Tirthan — peaceful, raw, and surrounded by nature.
  • Dinner and Overnight Sleep in hotel in Tirthan.
  • Today is a long but incredibly rewarding ride.
  • We drive through the stunning Kinnaur Valley, with the Satluj River carving its way through dramatic mountains.
  • The roads get wilder, the views get bigger, and the landscapes slowly turn more rugged.
  • By evening, we reach Chitkul — the last inhabited village near the Indo-China border.
  • It’s remote, it’s surreal, and it’s exactly why you came on this trip.
  • It’s been a long day. It is advisable to rest, but for those who want to stay up, let’s all get to know each other a bit tonight, eh!
  • Check-in the camps, dinner and sleep overnight.
  • Wake up early to a magical sunrise in Chitkul — crisp air, silence, and views that don’t feel real.
  • Take a walk through the village, sit by the Baspa River, and soak it all in.
  • After that, we’ll begin our scenic drive towards Nako, which takes around 6–7 hours.
  • As we move ahead, the landscape gradually transforms into rugged high-altitude terrain, offering dramatic views of the Himalayas.
  • En route, we’ll also witness the beautiful confluence of the Sutlej and Spiti rivers at Khab.
  • By evening, we’ll reach Nako and check in to our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in Nako.
  • We’ll wake up early and start the day with breakfast before beginning our journey towards Kaza.
  • Today, we officially enter the heart of Spiti, with Lepcha La, also known as Tibet Point, as our first major stop. From here, you’ll get a surreal view of the Indo-Tibet border and the vast Tibetan plateau beyond.
  • We’ll then continue towards Gue Monastery, home to the famous 500-year-old mummy monk, one of the most unique and fascinating sights in the region.
  • After this, we’ll head towards Tabo Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in the Himalayas, where you can spend some time exploring its ancient halls, peaceful surroundings, and spiritual charm.
  • From Tabo, we’ll continue our scenic drive towards Dhankar Monastery, beautifully perched on a cliff and offering stunning views of the Spiti Valley. Spend some time soaking in the peaceful atmosphere and panoramic landscapes before continuing towards Kaza.
  • By evening, we’ll reach Kaza and check in to our campsite/hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in Kaza.
  • It’s an exciting day today. We first go to the biggest monastery in Spiti Valley, Key Monastery is located at the top of the hill, with views of the Spiti river and the imposing mountains. From the base, you can take loads of pictures.
  • Further, drive to the highest suspension bridge in Asia - The Chicham Bridge.
  • The next stop is Komic. The highest village in Asia – Komic, situated at a height of 4513 m.
  • Next is the Hikkim village. The world’s highest post office is in Hikkim and to make this occasion memorable, post a few postcards from here to your loved ones!
  • Then we go to Langza – a land very rich with fossils.
  • Overnight at Kaza.
  • Wake up early morning and after having breakfast check out of the campsite. Depart for Chandra Taal Lake.
  • After some bumpy rides and passing numerous water streams we reach Kunzum Pass, this will be the highest pass of your trip. Also called Kunzum La by locals, offers an incredible 360-degree view of the Spiti Valley.
  • We will reach Chandrataal by the afternoon. The color of the water of this holy lake keeps changing from reddish to orange to blue to emerald green as the day ends and you will get some fantastic pictures here!
  • Dinner and stay in tents under the gaze of a million stars and the Milky Way Galaxy.
  • Wake up at Chandra Taal knowing today is the wildest riding day of the trip.
  • Stop at Chacha-Chachi Dhaba — a Spiti tradition and the most deserved meal of the journey
  • 70 km of pure off-road madness — gravel tracks, loose boulders, zero tarmac, zero mercy
  • Cross multiple water streams and river crossings — some shallow, some will make your heart stop
  • The kind of riding that separates this trip from every other trip you've ever done
  • By the time tarmac appears under your wheels again, you'll have stories for life
  • Pass through the Atal Tunnel back into the green world — the contrast hits harder than you expect
  • Evening bus from Manali to Delhi
  • Arrive Delhi the next morning. Changed in ways you won't be able to explain — but everyone will notice.

“I travelled with them for Manali to Spiti circuit in June 2024 and no words can do justice to my experience with them. Everything about the trip was memorable and super comfortable. I did on the bike as pillion with captain Kush and captain Shivam and both of them are equally apt in their biking skills and knowledge about the circuit. All the co-travelers were also very friendly and had lots of engaging conversations. The bikes, boarding and lodging – everything was very well organized and comfortable. Overall, the experience was excellent and superb. They have a special policy for encouraging female travelers and bikers, so girls please avail it. Looking forward to more such trips with OWF and thank you for delivering more than what you committed to!”

“My lust for wander came to halt here at OWF, as I found my joy here. The team at OWF were not captains, they were just like us, enjoying, guiding, mentoring, sharing and helping all of us. Being a captain is a very important job and Shivam ji & Kush ji did a commendable job here. Not only did they take the right steps and decisions for the herd, they took every opportunity to make the trip full of fun, carefully tweaked adventure and satisfaction to one's wanderlust. Me being a first-timer, I was encouraged by the captains and the whole herd to make my adventure come out and DO IT. The whole trip was carefully organized and every point was taken into consideration and that too at runtime based on all factors. Transportation, accommodation, food, and love were top-notch, keeping in mind the cost of the trip. No corner cuts or chindi chori was done at any cost. I am for sure sticking to OWF for my adventure & wanderlust. Keep it up guys and remember your lust & passion for wander & adventure will become some other's inspiration, so keep doing your best and the herd will keep getting bigger. Thank you once again for this Spiti valley trip.”
